Botanical name—Cymbopogon martini
Family—Gramineae,
Extraction –Distillation,
Aroma—Sweet , floral, slightlydry, with a hint of rose.
SAI EXPORT INDIA are Distilledfrom a spreading wild grass which is harvested before the flowerappear. The highest yield of oil is obtained when the grass isfully dried –about one week after it has been cut. HISTORY&MYTH-----Alsoknown as ‘Indian Geranium oil’ as well as ‘Rosha’ and often used toadulterate the more expensive Rose. Oil from sofia is sometimesreferred to as ‘Gingergrass’ which has a lower percentage ofgeraniol. Occasionally it is mixed with the finer motia thoughnative dealers can evaluate good quality oil by hitting the bottleagainst the palm of the hand. if the air bubbles rising to thesurface disapper quickly. The oils is assumed to be normal.Expingiorters in Bombay assess palmarosa oil by a simple solubilitytest.

Stimulates the appetite and may be helpful to peoplesuffering from anorexia nervosa since it appears to have such apositive influence on the feelings.; According to guenther’s essential oils’, gingergrass oil is said to ease stiff joints’: possibly its cousin, palmarosa , might have the sameeffect.
